Introduction
For 40 years, Oleg Skrypka and Vopli Vidopliassova (VV) have led the sound of modern Ukrainian music. Born in Soviet Kyiv’s underground scene, VV fused punk, folk, and art-rock into a revolutionary voice for a new generation. They pioneered Ukrainian-language rock and helped shape Eastern European ethnic rock on the international stage.

VV was the first Ukrainian band to tour globally, building a multi-generational following across Europe and North America. Frontman Oleg Skrypka is hailed as the "Godfather of Ukrainian Rock," and artists like Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello call VV his artistic “teachers.”

Their collaborations span genres and continents—Manu Chao, Khaled, Gogol Bordello, Hazmat Modine, Lemon Bucket Orkestra, and Les Hurlements d'Léo. From WOMAD and Sziget to Montreux, VV’s high-energy shows are cultural celebrations of joy, rebellion, and resilience.
In 2025, VV launched their 40th Anniversary Tour with 16 packed shows across North America, drawing more than 6,800 fans and raising over $50,000 for a children’s hospital in Ukraine. The tour not only united the Ukrainian and Eastern European communities—it also brought VV to a broader audience of folk and world music fans across North America.
2026 Plans
The 2026 campaign begins with VV’s featured performance at the renowned globalFEST in New York City and continues with their immersive Malanka Tour, celebrating Ukraine’s wild winter masquerade tradition. These shows blend VV’s signature sound with ritual, costumes, theatrical storytelling, and audience participation—an immersive folk-punk carnival of renewal and resistance.

Following Malanka, VV will return in August–September 2026 with a second tour leg focused on celebrating Ukraine’s Independence Month, engaging both diaspora and global audiences in a moment of unity, pride, and cultural expression.

VV’s growing popularity among Eastern European communities and broader folk and world music fans positions them as one of the most relevant cultural acts touring today. With active U.S. and Canada visas and flexible availability year-round, the band is poised to bring their electrifying performances to new stages in 2026 and beyond.
