ABOUT THE BAND
  • Vopli Vidopliassova (VV) are world music icons, genre-shaping performers, and the founders of Ukrainian rock. For over four decades, VV has redefined the boundaries of Ukrainian music—leading a cultural revolution that fused traditional folk roots with the energy of punk and the sophistication of art-rock. Emerging from the Soviet underground, the band gave voice to a generation seeking freedom, pride, and
    creative expression.
  • VFronted by the legendary Oleg Skrypka, VV was among the first bands to champion the Ukrainian language in contemporary music, forging a bold, new sonic identity. As their reputation grew, so did their global reach—touring extensively across Europe, North America, and Asia, while building a loyal multi-generational fanbase. Their groundbreaking sound has influenced artists around the world; Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello calls VV his artistic “teachers.”
  • VV’s collaborations span genres and geographies, with notable projects involving Manu Chao, Khaled, Hazmat Modine, Lemon Bucket Orkestra, and Les Hurlements d’Léo. They have performed on world-renowned stages including WOMAD, Montreux Jazz Festival, Sziget, and countless others. Their live shows are immersive and electrifying—infusing music with theatricality, ritual, and resistance.
  • VV continues to lead with fearless creativity and cultural resonance. As they enter their fifth decade, their legacy remains not just musical—it is deeply social, emotional, and global.
